Have you ever noticed that when you pick the favourite to win they tank overcoming overwhelming odds ! I have an uncanny knack of tipping the scales in favour of the underdog. Don't get me wrong, I love the underdog (I am one) but they never win when I pick them !
This hockey season I was responsible for the Martin Brodeur going down with his first major injury of his career. He started off the season well but then I entered a Fantasy Hockey draft and picked Brodeur in the second round. My goalie to lead my team to the promised land a Fantasy Championship. First game ... you guessed it, he goes down for the balance of the Fantasy season.
Now I'm messing with the lives of a number of star baseball players. I enjoyed the hockey so much I thought, I'd give baseball a try. I drafted some excellent pitchers - Jon Lester, Chien Ming Wang, Roy Oswalt and look at these poor guys. Wang can't seem to get a ball across the plate and Lester and Oswalt are struggling with 0-2 records to start the season.
I could'nt do it any better if I had little voodoo dolls with pins. I think I need to turn this into money somehow but I'm still not sure what to do. I could create a web site where you could pay me to pick your opponents players and thus guarrantee you a championship ! Or I could try the old reverse pick where you pick the opposite of what you want but somehow this always seems to flop.
For now I'll just enjoy controlling the sporting world. Bye the way, I've got the Lakers to win it all this spring !
